In this scene, there is a mix of both diegetic and non-diegetic sounds. At the start, it's non-diegetic sound as the music playing has not been produced by anyone or anything within the world of the film. It also compliments the first scene when they are running out of the house and into the car. The music is quite intense at this point in the film as the characters are panicking. When the characters start talking the music stops which allows the audience to focus on what they are saying. After that scene ends, the music starts again indicating that the other characters in the car are still panicking. However then, there is diegetic and non-diegetic sounds as the music is still playing but we can also hear the sound of the car which is produced by the characters driving as well as them talking. Throughout this whole scene, it switches between the different groups of characters as they are separated. When it switches back to the characters talking, you can hear quiet music in the background that is subtle so that the audience can still focus on what they are talking about as it is key information that they need to know. After all of that, the music switches around a lot and also speeds up which intrigues the audience as they know that something is going to happen. When the characters driving hit the other guy, all of the music stops. We are only able to hear the car and the characters talking, this is then diegetic sound. Slowly the music starts the build up again but is still quite subtle in the background until they crash into the pole, this is mostly non-diegetic sound. The music produced all of a sudden stops to fit the visuals and also while the other characters are talking. Once they finish talking the music starts again in the background until the explosion happens. The sound is then diegetic as the explosion happened in the world of the film. Towards the end when the sound is non-diegetic again, the music is quite sad and depressing which fits with the moods of the characters after their friends die.
The diegetic and non-diegetic sounds thought this film makes me feel intrigued. The non-diegetic music makes me feel quite tense because it's hard to figure out what happens next as the events are so unpredictable. Both the diegetic and non-diegetic sounds compliment the visuals really well and adds to the excitement of the scene.
